Foundation Skills

Level 1 and Level 2

Foundation Skills is offered to youth aged 16-24 years and will prepare the learner for further education or employment.
​
Our programme provides:
  • Small groups with the support needed to overcome personal and educational challenges.
  • An environment to gain confidence, communication and self-management skills.
  • Help to identify a career path, and plan and enrol in further education.
  • Help to identify suitable employment, plan and apply successfully to gain employment.

​Eligibility Criteria: ​
  • Open to those between 16 - 24 years.

When you come to us, you get a dedicated co-ordinator who will get to know you, your circumstances and help you manage your challenges to finding work.
This includes:
  • An initial assessment to understand your needs.
  • A personal plan with realistic employment goals.
  • Writing your CV, cover letters and job application searching for work and building your interview skills.
  • Accessing financial support to obtain licences or work related courses.
  • Maintaining motivation and confidence in your job search.
  • Connecting to community agencies when required.
  • Contacting potential employers on your behalf.
We will work along side you during your search for employment and support you through this journey. Also, included is ongoing support tailored to your requirements once in employment.

Eligibility Criteria: Open to those in the Taranaki region with a Work and Income Referral.

Keystones


This programme is offered to youth aged 16+ and offers intensive literacy and numeracy support to learners who need help with their maths, reading and/or writing.

Learners are able to access up to 300 hours of free literacy and numeracy specialist services provided they are a New Zealand citizen or resident.

Eligibility criteria: Open to New Zealand citizens and residents.
